ADT Security Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tyco International Ltd. Tyco International, through its divisions and operating subsidiaries, is the world’s largest manufacturer and installer of fire and safety systems and has strong leadership positions in disposable medical products, packaging materials, flow control products, electrical and electronic components and underwater telecommunication systems. The company operates in more than 80 countries around the world has revenue expectations in excess of $26 billion in 2000. The two companies combined result in the largest fire and security business in the world. ADT Security Services serves over 2.5 million industrial, commercial and residential customers and is the largest single provider of electronic security services in North America and the United Kingdom.

In Canada, ADT Security Services has developed and maintained an enviable record as a leader and innovator since its initial inception as the B.C. District Telegraph and Delivery Co. Ltd. in 1891. ADT is organized into three operating regions (West, Central, and East) with corporate offices in Mississauga, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia.

ADT Security Services prides itself on being a good corporate citizen. The company actively participates in national programs designed to reduce crime. ADT is particularly proud of having been instrumental in developing and implementing a program designed to respond to increasing domestic violence. The DVERS program (Domestic Violence Emergency Response System) provides a protective signaling security system for victims and their children who are in high-risk domestic violence situations. The program’s tremendous success has encouraged other communities to implement the program, which has expanded to help save lives in over 180 communities in North America. Additionally, ADT is actively involved in Crime Stoppers, the community driven organization whose mission is to assist people in preventing crime in their own communities.

In 1996, ADT initiated the ADT Authorized Dealer Program in Canada as an additional venue for distribution of ADT Products and Services. Through the Dealer Program, ADT has gained market share in areas not currently serviced by ADT branch offices. This gives the program the two-fold advantage of having a well established local dealer with strong community presence combined with ADT’s resources and reputation as the world’s number one supplier of electronic security. Over 30 ADT Authorized Dealers have been appointed across Canada, with the search for suitable partners continuing throughout the country.
