Canadian Automobile Association

logo.gif (1565 bytes)Back at the turn of the century, Dr. Perry E. Doolittle, founder of the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA), envisioned the ever-expanding role the motor vehicle would play in Canadian life. This "King of Canadian Roads" was concerned that motorists everywhere should receive fair treatment from their fellow citizens, and especially from the government.

Since its inception in 1913, CAA has been the advocate for Canada's motoring public.  It has evolved and grown with its membership, responding to the ever-changing needs of motorists and travellers through the provision of exciting products and services. Adapting to the present day's changing attitudes, technologies and consumer needs has been a big part of CAA's evolution into the four-million-member organization it is today.

The most visible of the CAA's membership services is the first rate Emergency Roadside Service. However, CAA has been proactive in developing additional opportunities designed to provide greater benefits to its members.  Current services range from travel and auto touring services, to insurance and traffic safety programs, to discounts with preferred companies. Continuously expanding the membership benefits package allows CAA to build greater customer loyalty and maintain a high level of member satisfaction.

CAA represents the rights and interests of Canadian motorists. Through public awareness campaigns and government lobbying, CAA works to ensure safe and enjoyable driving for all Canadians.  Issues such as transportation infrastructure and the national highway system, climate change, broader-based improvements on child restraints in vehicles and the fluctuation in fuel prices, are at the forefront of CAA's efforts in the area of Public and Government Affairs.

CAA is a federation of 11 automobile clubs serving over four million members through 130 offices across Canada. CAA provides a wide range of member services, has affiliates in 95 countries and works to improve travelling and motoring conditions at home and around the globe.
