Cyclone Mfg. Inc. Biography

Founded in 1964, Cyclone Manufacturing Inc. is a well-established producer of precision specialty components and assemblies for the aircraft, aerospace, nuclear, and defence industries.

Located in since 1987 Mississauga, Ontario at a 24,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility, Cyclone maintains the highest standards for the more than 1,000 parts it manufactures. High quality and precision parts are a must for the customers it serves: companies such as Canadair, McDonnell Douglas, Vought Aircraft, De Havilland Aircraft and Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd.

The founder of Cyclone, Ted Kosiorek, came to Canada from England in 1956. Having gained technical experience with the British Airforce during World War II, Kosiorek had also worked as a tool and die maker before immigrating.

In 1964 Kosiorek made the decision to start his own shop, renting space in Toronto at Kipling and the Queensway. Within five years the new company, Cyclone, began the production of aircraft parts, which is now Cyclone’s mainstay operation.

Growing steadily, in 1966 the company needed to move, choosing larger facilities close to the original location. In co-operation with a Detroit-based company, Cyclone was the first to manufacture indexable cutters, which are now used throughout the industry.

In 1985, the company refocused itself on what it does best: the production of aircraft components. In 1990, leadership was passed from Kosiorek to a new President, Andrew Sochaj, a Cyclone employee since 1977.

Sochaj believes that one of Cyclone’s greatest assets is its reputation for providing quality parts on time to its customers. Having participated in such projects as the Canadarm, Jumbo Jet, and Candu reactors, Cyclone is prepared to meet the future by continuing in its tradition of quality in producing more complex and high precision parts and assemblies within its specialized field.
