First Heritage Savings Credit Union

logo.gif (3643 bytes)FIRSTHeritage Savings Credit Union traces its roots to the founding of two individual British Columbia Credit Unions. East Chilliwack Credit Union was formed in 1954 by the East Chilliwack Agricultural Co-op to serve the financial needs of its growing membership, and at the end of its first year the new credit union had assets of $14,000 and a profit of $170. The other founding branch was Clearbrook Credit Union, which began in 1958 in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

In 1983 the two credit unions decided to merge to form FIRSTHeritage Savings Credit Union. A full-service credit union, FIRSTHeritage is owned by its customers, image_1_small.jpg (5263

Operating through nine locations which are located from Langley in the west to Hope in the east, FIRSTHeritage now serves over 57,000 members. In addition, its insurance division, FIRSTHeritage Insurance Services Ltd., has offices in Langley, Aldergrove, Abbotsford, Mission, Yarrow, Sardis, Chilliwack and Hope, British Columbia.

Because FIRSTHeritage is owned, managed, and staffed by people who live in the Fraser Valley, it has an in-depth knowledge of, and commitment to, the communities in which it serves. Furthermore, FIRSTHeritage is an active supporter of locally based initiatives and charities. The Credit Union encourages its management and staff to participate in their communities and FIRSTHeritage itself gives financial support to a wide array of projects, all of which contribute to making the Fraser Valley a better place in which to live and work.
